Foodies, here's a quick rundown of three events you shouldn't miss over the next few weeks. Not listed: a series of pop-up brunches featuring favorite ingredients from this time of year. You'll have to contact me directly for info on those.

5/15 - Mastro Scheidt pouring at The Tasting Room

I was a little hard on David Scheidt (The Cured Ham) in my last post. Sure, it may have been warranted, but the truth is that he really does have more to offer the community—like three award-winning cabernets. David will be pouring his 2010 Arabian Vineyard Cabernet Franc Wednesday, May 15, at The Tasting Room from 5:00 p.m. till close.

5/19 - Butchery Class at Chase's Chop Shop

This event has sold out, but I'm still mentioning it because if there's additional demand, the organizers may be open to doing it again. The rancher, the butcher and the city dweller are great guys, and it's exciting to see them share their passion, expertise, and heritage pork.

6/17-6/21 - The Perfect Peach Release Events

Okay, there's more than one event here. But all focus on The Perfect Peach, a collection of recipes and stories from the Masumoto family. The book is available June 11, but you can pick up a copy and meet the friendly folks behind it at the Fresno launch events:

  • 6/17 - Peaches at Pinot: Cookbook Sampling, Wine Pairing, & Book Signing
    Pinot Wine Bar, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. 
  • 6/18 - Peach Party
    Fresno Brewing Company, 7:00 p.m.
  • 6/20 - Reading at San Joaquin River Parkway
    Respite by the River, 7:00 p.m.
  • 6/21 - Meet & Eat Peach Pick-up
    Dusty Buns Bistro, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
