Bacon Apple Pie

I made this with a pound of bacon. Now, some would say that you could never have enough bacon. To me, personally, it was a bit much. But the beauty of this recipe is that you can alter the amount of bacon to please your own taste buds. Enjoy!

2 large Fuji apples, peeled and sliced (approx. 1/4" thickness)
2 large Pink Lady apples, peeled and sliced (approx. 1/4" thickness)
1 pound bacon
2 pie crusts (make your own or use pre-made. I used the Pillsbury pre-made)
heaping 3/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons of flour*
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon*
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg*
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon milk

*when measuring these portions, I was pretty generous. I didn't level off, but left the portions rounded

1. Cook your bacon, just to get it cooked. Doesn't need to be extra crispy. Put them on some paper towels to get rid of the grease.
2. Chop the bacon into small pieces.
3. Line the pie pan with your first crust
4. Place a layer of chopped bacon on the pie pan.
5. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 3/4 cup of white sugar.
6. Then pour the dry mixture over the sliced apples, and stir to coat.
7. Mix in the remaining bacon to coat.
8. Place the mixture into the pie pan, and cover with the top crust.
9. Mix the sugar and milk together, and brush the sugary milk generously over the top crust.
10. Make sure to slit holes in the crust (or you can get fancy and do some lattice work)
11. Bake for one hour at 375F

Let cool, and enjoy!
