Max's Bistro

What's it like?

So Tami, Lexie, Debbie and I had lunch at Max's Bistro today. The ambiance is somewhat industrial, with the metal art work and wooden furniture. Not the most comfortable. But the service was, and has always been, perfect.

We started out with the truffle fries, tossed with Parmesan cheese, sea salt, and herbs. Ask for the jalapeno-arugula aioli to dip them in. They are a treasure.

Tami had the shrimp and spinach cheese melt. This dish is really good, albiet very rich and maybe too rich to finish in one sitting. It has broiled rock shrimp, Parmesan cheese, Mozzarella cheese, all melted on a french baguette. Lush...

Debbie had the Max Burger, with grilled Angus beef, sharp cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, dijon-mayo, grilled red onions, and a house baked bun. I've had this before, and it is to die for...

I had the Banh Mi, which is a first for me, so I cannot compare it to the others that have been lauded on this site. But it had smoked pork, cilantro, carrot, sriracha
aioli, all on a Bolio Roll. I was very pleased with the smoky flavor, and the hot aftertaste...

A bit pricey for the typical Sunday brunch, but well worth the trip for those looking for something different in Fresno...

Lexie, being only four months old, had formula, and didn't complain...
